The Panamera Turbo is unbelievable. With a 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds, you'll be able to outdrag almost anything else on the road, yet the Panamera still comfortably seats four. Quite why you'd need all this power in a luxury four-seater we're not sure and there are cars that do the Panamera's job just as well for half the money.

PROS:  The Panamera 4.8 V8 Turbo delivers blistering performance and is great fun to drive. It is also luxurious and will seat four people in comfort.

CONS:  It is extremely expensive to buy and run.

Behind the Wheel

The Panamera Turbo's 4.8-litre V8 chucks out a monstrous 542bhp and 553lb-ft of torque. This translates into a 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 190mph. This car is absolutely insane.

The handling is also excellent despite the car's size and the big heavy V8 engine up front. The Panamera feels very light and agile and is surprisingly comfortable thanks to its air suspension. It can get a little choppy at lower speeds but on the motorway the Panamera is an effortless, cosseting cruiser.

Looks & Equipment

Hmm... the Panamera Turbo's looks are likely to divide opinion. It is by no means the best looking car in the world and, unfortunately, it has to compete with the Maserati Quattroporte and the Aston Martin Rapide, both of which look absolutely fantastic.

Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, climate control, electric mirrors and windows, metallic paint, rear parking sensors, cruise control, leather seats, CD player, Bluetooth and Sat-Nav. However, Porsche have the bare-faced cheek to charge £227 for MP3 connectivity in a car which costs £122k!

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

Euro NCAP have not tested the Panamera but it is likely to be very safe and comes with stability control and ten airbags to protect you in the event of a crash.

It should also be very reliable and is offered with Porsche's 3 year unlimited mileage warranty.

The Panamera is easily big enough to accomodate four adults in comfort although the boot isn't particularly big, offering just 445-litres with the rear seats up and 1263-litres with the rear seats folded flat.

Value for Money

The Porsche Panamera 4.8 V8 Turbo S is very expensive indeed, costing £122,623. This is a lot of money, especially when you consider that there are cars out there for half the money that do the Panameras job just as well.

You will also need deep pockets to keep it on the road. Porsche claims you should get 24.6mpg but we doubt whether that figure is particularly realistic. CO2 emissions of 270g/km also mean that the Panamera falls under the highest tax bracket, M.
