The Porsche Panamera is a large executive/luxury car which has been hailed as the best in its class, bridging the gap between excellent sports saloons and proper sports cars. It is not your typical Porsche, it is much bigger for a start, but as soon as you start the engine and put your foot down, it is Porsche through and through.

Porsche Panamera Overview
The Panamera comes with a selection of engines ranging from a 3.0 litre to a 4.8 litre, all engines are either V6s or V8s. Depending on what engine you go for, the Panamera can do anywhere between 23.0 and 44.0 miles per gallon, with the diesel models being the most economical.
The Panamera is rivalled with cars such as the Maserati Quattroporte, the Aston Martin Rapide, the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. It is aimed at the Porsche fan who maybe has a family and needs something a bit bigger than your Porsche 911 kind of models.
Background
The Porsche Panamera was first introduced in 2009 whilst its roots can be traced back to the 1980s when Porsche designed the 989 concept car.
It was originally produced with three different specifications to choose from, the S the 4S and the Turbo, in 2011 however, further specifications were made available, the Panamera S Hybrid, the Diesel, the Turbo S and the GTS.
The Hybrid model is by far the cleanest that Porsche has ever made with carbon emissions at 159 grams per kilometre yet it can still do a pretty impressive 167.8 mph. On the other hand the Panamera diesel is the most economical.
The Panamera is a first for Porsche but you would not be able to tell. The Panamera maintains Porsche’s excellent reputation, continuing its legacy as a car maker who makes quality cars which are a pleasure to drive.
Summary
Whilst the styling might not be for everyone, and the car itself may upset a few of the hardcore Porsche fans, it is undeniably a splendid car. If you want a better representation of Porsche performance you can choose one of the V8s or the Turbocharged models, whilst the Diesel offers more practicality.
