PROS: The 508 SW offers an enjoyable driving experience, looks good and has reasonable running costs.
CONS: It's expensive for a Peugeot and the ride is a little firm.
The Peugeot 508 SW Allure has a 2.0-litre diesel engine which develops 163 bhp and 251 lb-ft of torque. This translates into a 0-62mph time of 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 138 mph. This is excellent for a car of this size.
The 508 SW Allure is fun to drive thanks to good suspension which limits body roll and provides plenty of grip. The steering is precise and there is very little noise, even at high speed. However, the ride is a little firm.
The 508 SW is a fine looking car and its interior is sumptuously appointed. The cabin also feels well made and the materials used are of a very high quality.
Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, climate control, electric windows, cruise control, rear parking sensors, part leather seats, MP3 connectivity, CD player and Bluetooth. Sat-Nav is an optional extra at £705 and metallic paint will set you back £405.

The 508 was awarded the full five star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests and comes as standard with front, side and curtain airbags and stability control which means it should be a very safe car to drive.
There is plenty of space in the 508 SW although taller rear passengers may find that legroom is at a premium. There's a decent 512-litres of boot space on offer with the rear seats up and 1598-litres available with the seats folded down.
The 508 SW Allure 2.0 HDi FAP Auto 5dr is priced at £26,225 which is fairly reasonable given the amount of equipment included as standard. However, many buyers are going to wince at the thought of spending £26k on a Peugeot.
