The 308 CC's 1.6 litre four-pot engine produces 120 bhp at 6000rpm and 118 lb-ft of torque at 4250rpm. 0-62mph takes 12.0 seconds and the top speed is 121mph. For a car with the 308 CC's sporting pretensions, this really isn't fast enough.
On top of this, the handling is pretty bland. It handles perfectly competently but it's just no fun through the bends whatsoever. The ride is perfectly adequate but the cabin is tremendously noisy - long journeys are going to be very uncomfortable.
The 308 CC is a reasonably good looking car despite the fact it comes with Peugeot's customary grinning front end. However be warned, if you have a Y chromosome you will look absolutely ridiculous behind the wheel.
Peugeot have been pretty generous with the standard equipment. You get alloy wheels, air-con, electric windows, electric mirrors, Bluetooth and a CD player with MP3 connectivity. Sat-nav is unavailable as are rear parking sensors and cruise control but metallic paint can be specified for £440.
The 308 CC will seat four people but only at a push. It feels relatively well built but Peugeot don't have the best reputation for reliability.
The boot is also pretty small, offering just 266-litres of space with the rear seats up and 403-litres with the seats folded down.
On the plus side, it scored the full five stars in the Euro NCAP safety tests and should therefore be very safe in the event if an accident.
The Peugeot 308 CC is pricey at £21,445 and, depsite its lacklustre performance, you can't even expect bargain basement running costs. You should get 42mpg on the combined cycle which is pretty mediocre for a small car like this. The CO2 emissions are pretty average at 155g/km, putting the Pug into VED band G. On the plus side, insurance is cheap thanks to the 308 CC's metal roof..

The 308 CC is well built and very economical but this fails to make up for the fact that it's slow, noisy, unrefined and deeply uncool. It's also pricey for what it is - there are much better cars ...

The 308 SW is a very good estate car for those on a tight budget. It offers an attractive package thanks to an impressive amount of interior space, however there are better cars around for the cash.
