Maserati has used the Geneva Motor Show to unveil its new Alfieri, a 2+2 concept which has been designed to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary.
Although it’s still just a concept at this point, Maserati claims that the Alfieri shows the “design DNA” of the company’s future products. It’s understood that the concept could preview a replacement for the Granturismo, providing Maserati with a new challenger for the likes of the Jaguar F-Type and the Porsche 911.
The Alfieri is also based on the GranTurismo MC Stradale chassis, which has been shortened by 240mm, and is fitted with the same 4.7-litre V8, producing 460bhp and 383lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automated manual gearbox which is incorporated into the rear axle for superior weight distribution.
Inside, the Alfieri features a minimalist cabin which is based around a central TFT touchscreen, which replaces the traditional instruments.
To be honest, with all this talk of engines and interiors, we’re ignoring the elephant in the room: the looks. It really is a sensational looking car and if this is a sign of Mazzers to come, all we can say is bring it on.
