Kia has revealed its new sporty GT4 Stinger concept at the Detroit Motor Show.
The GT4 Stinger is a stripped-down, rear-wheel drive coupe which is designed to take on the likes of the Toyota GT86. Powered by a 315bhp turbocharged version of Kia's 2.0-litre four-pot engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, the GT4 Stinger is based on an all-new platform and was designed at Kia's Californian design studio.
The Stinger measures 4.3m in length and features a short rear overhang and transparent A-pillars which are claimed to give the driver a 270-degree view of the road ahead.
On the inside, the 2+2 cabin is a stripped, back-to-basics affair, with rubber floor mats instead of carpet, aluminium pedals, a D-shaped steering wheel, a red-illuminated instrument panel and red-stitched pull straps in place of door handles.
Although there are currently no plans to put the concept into production, the GT4 Stinger provides a glimpse at what a future Kia sports car could look like.
