Last month we told you about David Brown Automotive, a new British luxury sports car company whose aim is to "refresh the classic British sports car, for the 21st Century."

Well, the company has just revealed its first ever model, the new Speedback, at an event in London. And on first inspection, you could be forgiven for mistaking the Speedback for a certain Aston Martin of the 1960s.
Although the Speedback is a brand-new design, the styling is pure DB5. And given that the DB5 is arguably one of the best-looking cars of all time, this can only be a good thing. There will be those who criticise the Speedback's retro styling -- to be honest, we're not exactly great fans of self-consciously retro car designs -- but there's no getting away from the fact that the Speedback is a stunning car.
Underneath, things are a little more modern. The Speedback is essentially a Jaguar XK, with a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine sending 503bhp to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox, and on the inside, the basic structure of the XK's interior has been carried over.
The Speedback will receive its public unveiling at the Top Marques show in Monaco on 17 April.
The boss of the company, David Brown (who, incidentally, is no relation to the David Brown of Aston Martin fame) said: "The launch of Speedback is the realisation of a dream for me, and is the result of skilful and dedicated work by a team of highly talented designers, engineers and craftsmen.
"This car will appeal to anybody who desires a truly individual sports car, which can boast a fine British pedigree and which will only be produced in limited numbers, thus ensuring the kind of exclusivity associated with Britain's once proud heritage of traditional, high-quality, automotive coach-building."
