Audi has revealed its new Allroad Shooting Brake Concept ahead of its official debut at the Detroit Motor Show this week.
The Allroad Shooting Brake incorporates a range of design elements which will be included on future Audi models, offering "concrete glimpses" of Audi's future model line-up.
Specifically, the concept closely previews the look of the new Audi TT, which is due out later this year. At 4.2m long, 1.85m wide and 1.41m tall, the Allroad Shooting Brake is constructed from a mix of aluminium and carbon-fibre, pointing towards the use of these materials in future TT models.
Underneath, the concept features a hybrid powertrain which combines a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine with three electric motors, two of which are built into the double-clutch gearbox, and one of which is sited in the rear axle.
In total, the powertrain produces 402bhp and 480lb-ft of torque, giving a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph, while returning an impressive 149mpg and 45g/km of CO2.
The drivetrain also includes an 8.8kWh battery which Audi claims gives the concept an all-electric range of 31-miles and a maximum fully-electric speed of 80mph.
Drivers will also be able to choose from three different driving modes: EV mode, Hybrid mode and Sport mode. EV mode, as the name suggests, prioritises electric driving and uses the electric motors only; Hybrid mode allows both the petrol engine and the electric motors to work together for maximum efficiency, sometimes using the petrol engine as a generator; Sport mode gives the driver the maximum available power, utilising all powertrain components simultaneously.
