PROS: The Toyota Verso S TR 1.33 VVT-i 5dr certainly comes well equipped. On top of this, the running costs are low and the interior space is ample.
CONS: The seats don’t do anything ingenious and the Toyota Verso S TR 1.33 VVT-i 5dr is a little on the pricey side, especially considering the underpowered engine. The Verso-S is also very noisy, especially at motorway speeds.
The Verso-S's 1.33-litre petrol engine develops a measly 98bhp and 92lb-ft of torque which isn't really enough in a car of this size. 0-62mph takes a leisurely 13.1 seconds and flat out you'll only manage 106mph. You really need to rev the engine hard to make good progress.
Wind noise becomes apparent at motorway speeds and the engine hums a little at 70mph in sixth gear. The steering is also very vague and wooly. Visibility is also compromised by the Verso-S's thick windscreen pillars.
The Toyota Verso-S 1.33 VVT i 5dr is pretty well equipped and comes as standard with a range of features including air con, power steering, electric front windows, electric door mirrors, rear-parking camera, an alarm and immobiliser, Bluetooth, CD and MP3 connectivity.
Sat-Nav will cost you a further £500 and metallic paint £450. Disappointingly, for a car of this price, alloy wheels are also an optional extra, costing £410.
The Verso-S also comes as standard with a five-year/100,000 mile warranty and, thanks to Toyota's superb reputation for reliability, it is unlikely to be needed.
Every Verso-S comes as standard with seven airbags, front seats that have been designed in order to minimise the effect of whiplash and stability control.
The Toyota Verso-S 1.33 VVT i 5dr offers an extremely roomy cabin for such a small MPV. In order to create even more storage, the floor of the boot can be raised to the same height as the opening in order to make it easy to slide heavy items both in and out.
There isn’t much in the way of versatility. The rear seats split and fold 40/60, but that’s about all the Toyota Verso 1.33 VVT i 5dr has to offer in this area
The Toyota Verso S TR 1.33 VVT- i 5dr is priced at £14,795 which is quite a lot of money for such a small car. On the plus side, you do get a good amount of standard equipment and running costs should be low. You should manage 51.4mpg (combined) and CO2 emissions of 127g/km make for relatively low tax costs under VED band D.

The Toyota Verso S TR 1.33 VVT-i 5dr is by no means a bad car but its high purchase price, tiny engine and unrewarding driving experience mean that it is by no means one of the best in its class.
