0-62 Mph: 9.9 secs

PROS: Good looks, smooth ride, very practical, quality finish
CONS: Not that cheap to run thanks to so-so fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.
The Galaxy's turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine produces 158bhp and 177lb-ft of torque. The car can reach a top speed of 124mph, which is pretty standard for a car of this build, and it can travel from 0-62mph in 9.9 seconds, which is good for a large car such as this. However, the performance credentials only tell half of the story. The engine is fine at higher revs when the turbo comes on, but at lower revs it lacks urgency and feels very slow indeed, especially when fully loaded. The diesel engines are much better.
The ride is very comfortable and the car handles reasonably well through the corners.
The Galaxy is a good looking car and comes with a decent amount of standard kit.
Bluetooth, CD player with MP3 connecivity, alloy wheels, climate control, rear parking sensors, electric windows and electric mirrors are all fitted as standard.
Metallic paint will cost you an extra £525 and sat-nav will set you back £1,300. If you really fancy speccing your Galaxy up, you can have a rear seat entertainment system fitted for £1750.
In terms of security, the car is well protected thanks to an alarm which is fitted as standard.
The Galaxy also comes with an impressive amount of safety kit. Driver, passenger and
side airbags are all fitted as standard to protect occupants in the event of a crash.
The car is covered under warranty for three years, or up to 60,000 miles.
This car has a vast amount of interior and storage space. When the rear seats are folded the car offers a massive 2325 litres of boot space, and when the back seats are up there is still 308 litres of room.
The Galaxy Zetec 1.6T Eco Boost (Start/Stop) is priced at £24,645 which is very reasonable for a car of this type.
However, running costs are going to be very high. You'll struggle to top 39mpg and with all seven seats filled and luggage on board, you'll get a lot less than that. CO2 emissions are also fairly high at 167g/km, putting the Galaxy in VED band H.
The diesel models are vastly more efficient than this turbocharged petrol and, as such, are a much wiser investment.
The Galaxy is a good car which offers a great amount of practicality and interior space for the price. The turbocharged petrol engine is a bit out of its depth in a car this size and it's not the m...
The Galaxy Titanium 1.6T Eco Boost (Start/Stop) is a fine car and arguably the pick of the Galaxy range. It's cheaper than the diesels in the range and not much less economical. It also seats seven...
The Galaxy offers a fantastic amount of interior space and practicality for a reasonable price. The 1.6-litre diesel is a bit asthmatic and the 2.0-litre unit is a much better bet. But if you're lo...
