One of the cheapest options for an open-top Audi TT, the Audi TT Roadster 1.8 TFSI Sport is a great option for those who want to combine the classic Audi TT style with high levels of performance. The responsive handling makes for an enjoyable drive.

PROS:  You get a decent level of performance and in-car kit for your money and the handling is sharp and responsive.

CONS:  Practicality is compromised when compared to the TT Coupe range and a lot of noise infiltrates the cabin.

Behind the Wheel

The 1.8-litre engine produces 158 bhp and 184 lb-ft of torque. With a top speed of 139 mph and a 0-62 mph time of 7.4 seconds, the performance credentials of this model are strong.

The steering is responsive and well-weighted but on rougher roads, the ride can become choppy. However, there is none of the so called 'scuttle shake' that normally affects convertibles like this and the TT feels composed and planted on the road.

Looks & Equipment

The Audi TT Roadster 1.8 TFSI Sport offers a good range of equipment as standard. Power steering, central locking, stability control, alloy wheels, climate control, electric door mirrors, electric front windows, a part leather interior and an advanced stereo system with CD player and MP3 connectivity are all included in the price.

Additional features such as Bluetooth connectivity, a built in sat nav, rear parking sensors and cruise control are all available for an extra cost at £250, £665, £305 and £220 respectively.

The external appearance can also be enhanced with a metallic paint finish which costs £510.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

Driver, passenger and front side airbags are included as standard. An alarm and immobiliser are also fitted to protect the vehicle from theft and the car comes with a three year warranty for 60,000 miles.

With the roof down, taller drivers will need a low seating position in order to be comfortable and this could cause problems in terms of practicality. There is also a lot of road noise which can make the driving experience less comfortable.

That being said, there is a lot of adjustment available in the front seats and steering column. The internal instruments are well arranged and that makes operating them easy when driving.

The boot offers just 250 litres of space which is less than the Coupe equivalent – a compromise made to accommodate the open car design.

Value for Money

Priced at £26,085, this is one of the cheapest TTs on offer and is a very good car for the price.

For the money you get exceptionally high levels of performance and a decent level of in-car tech.

The Audi TT Roadster 1.8 TFSI Sport also comes with reasonable running costs and the fuel economy of 43.5 mpg is decent for a sports car but not overly efficient. Carbon emissions of 152 g/km are moderate and put the car into road tax bracket G. Insurance costs will be moderately high, falling under insurance bracket 32.
