The Volkswagen Polo has been updated for 2022 getting revised look and additional standard equipment including self-drive kit.
The Polo competes with cars like the Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris and Vauxhall Corsa.
The range kicks off with the £17,885 Polo Life which has an 80PS petrol engine that can be upgraded for the firm’s excellent 95PS turbocharged petrol.
Despite being the entry-level trim, Life models can accelerate, brake and steer themselves on the motorway. LED headlights, an eight-inch infotainment screen and a digital instrument binnacle of the same size, wing mirrors that fold away when the car’s parked and no less than four USB ports split equally between the front and back seat, are also new for 2022.
Luxurious Style and sporty R-Line models both cost from £20,785.
Style models only come with the 95PS petrol engine in combination with a five-speed manual gearbox. Kit includes matrix LED headlights, a larger 10.5-inch infotainment screen, built-in sat-nav and two-zone climate control.
R-Line models miss out on the fancy matrix LEDs but do get unique alloy wheels and a pumped-up body kit that make them look like a GTI in passing. Standard kit includes auto-dipping conventional LED headlights, a 10.5-inch digital instrument binnacle and dual-zone climate control.
The Polo GTI’s performance is unchanged for 2022 – it has 207PS and gets from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds – but you can now have it with a black roof. It contrasts its Pure White, Deep Black Pearl, Kings Red Metallic, Reef Blue Metallic or Smokey Grey Metallic paint finishes.
Uprated suspension means the GTI should handle with more precision while standard equipment has been bolstered with the same matrix headlights and 10.5-inch digital instrument binnacle fitted to the rest of the range. The GTI is now priced from £26,430.
