MINI has unveiled two new special edition cars, continuing the firm’s tradition of drawing inspiration from areas of London.
From the 1st March two new limited run special edition MINI cars will be available to buy - the MINI Baker Street and the MINI Bayswater. Each of the new cars is exclusive to the Hatch body style, and features a wide range of extras.
The new MINI Baker Street edition, inspired by the home of Sherlock Holmes, is finished in Rooftop Grey metallic paint and features twin black bonnet stripes forming a V shape. It is available for the MINI One, One D, Cooper and Cooper D. Midnight Black and Pepper White are also available as options for the body colour. The side scuttles and door sills feature 'Baker Street' lettering, and 16 inch 6-star alloy wheels will be fitted. Both the MINI Cooper and Cooper D models will also have a painted black roof.
Inside the Baker Street edition cars, a new set of upholstery features grey stitching on the floor mats, gearstick and handbrake gaiter. The Rooftop Grey diamond-pattern on the seats is also repeated on surfaces around the cockpit and on the door trim.
The standard equipment list is enhanced on the MINI Baker Street with the addition of the firm's 'Pepper Pack'. This includes automatic air-con, on-board computer, leather steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, multi-coloured interior lighting, height adjustable passenger seats and front fog lamps.
The MINI Bayswater, named after the vibrant area of London west of Hyde Park, is more sporty looking and is intended to showcase the brand's performance credentials.
The 17 inch 'Sandblast' light alloy wheels and Kite Blue metallic paint are both entirely new, created especially for the MINI Bayswater. The external styling includes blue and grey Sport Stripes on the bonnet, with door mirror caps coloured to match the stripes. Both the door sills and side indicator surrounds display the 'Bayswater' lettering. Cooper S and Cooper SD models also have the additional options of Eclipse Grey or Midnight Black metallic paint colours.
The interior of the MINI Bayswater is enhanced with Chrome Line and Chili packages, as well as completely new bespoke features such as Rocklike Anthracite Punch Leather seats with side bolsters, and new floor mats with anthracite edging and blue contrast stitching.
The two new special editions, which both come with six-speed manual transmissions as standard (or the option of six-speed automatic), replace the previous two London special editions Pimlico and Soho, which will now be retired.
