Toyota are now taking orders on what they claim is the most affordable hybrid-powered vehicle on the UK market.

The new Toyota Yaris Hybrid will be priced at an as yet unspecified figure below £15,000, and will come equipped with a 99bhp full hybrid power train offering a combined fuel economy of 80.7mpg, and CO2 emissions of 79g/km.

The Yaris' full hybrid system enables it to run solely on electric power, and therefore generate zero tailpipe emissions, for up to one third of an average urban journey.

The Toyota Yaris Hybrid will feature air conditioning and an automatic gearbox as standard and, thanks to its low CO2 emissions, will be exempt from both road tax and the London Congestion Charge. It also means that, for company car drivers, the car falls into the lowest Benefit In Kind taxation band of 10%.
