Vauxhall have released images and specifications for the new Corsa.
The new model will begin production later this year and hopes to stay competitive in a market which includes several other big selling small cars. They have kept the dimensions roughly the same and claim to have maintained a good internal space through intelligent design in the cabin area.
New engines and transmissions will be available from the outset. A 1.0-litre, three-cylinder ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo, one of Vauxhall’s new powertrain models will lead the petrol options, while the new 1.3 CDTi, designed to meet stringent Euro-6 regulations, will provide an option to diesel buyers.
‘Corsa remains the best-selling car in Vauxhall’s range, which is testament to the continued appeal of the current model to UK buyers, supported by a raft of innovative sales programmes that make the car even more enticing,’ said Tim Tozer, Vauxhall’s Chairman and Managing Director.
‘So New Corsa has its work cut out – both as a worthy replacement for the existing car later this year, and as a new challenger in a highly competitive class. We’re confident that it will jump both hurdles with ease.’
Last year Vauxhall sold an enormous 83,000 Corsas in the UK and the sales show no sign of slowing. The British love affair is apparently down to its youthful looks and short length which makes manoeuvring easy.
