Indian car manufacturer Tata Motors, the company that owns Jaguar Land Rover, has confirmed that its innovative Nano car will be sold in Europe and the US.
Despite a cool reception in its home market of India, Tata Motors has confirmed that it will be bringing the Nano to the UK, as well as the rest of Europe and the United States. The Nano is a small city car developed with low costs as the highest priority. The Nano has suffered from serious problems in India due to quality problems, and sales have not been as high as the company expected, but the firm claims that these teething problems have now been ironed out.
The UK Nano will not be exactly the same as the original Indian version. It will of course still be marketed as a cheap car, but the firm is aiming to improve levels of comfort and driveability for the European and US version.
No date has been set yet for the launch of a UK Nano, but it is unlikely to be very soon. Apart from anything else, Tata Motors have yet to establish a plan for creating a dealer network in the UK to sell the vehicles.
