A UK-specific special edition Amarok pick-up is set to go on sale in July, Volkswagen has confirmed.
The special Amarok, called the ‘edition’, will be aimed at ‘style-savvy’ buyers with production limited to just 300 units. It features a wealth of extra equipment – £3,400 worth – included on top of the standard Trendline trim in an attempt to win over lifestyle buyers with a more luxurious taste.
The model represents excellent value as it only costs £1,400 more, giving customers £2,000 worth of extra kit free of charge.
Exterior changes include 18-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass and ‘edition’ graphics on the doors and mirrors. It is available in Reflex Silver with black door mirror covers, or Deep Black with silver door mirror covers. Amongst the extra interior features with this version are front and rear parking sensors, interior floor mats, a load bay protector, Bluetooth connectivity and satellite navigation.
The special model is equipped with a 2.0-litre BiTDI diesel engine which produces 177bhp, while there are two gearboxes to choose from; there is a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic.
Mark Hopkins, head of marketing for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “Creating the right image is very important for a lot of our customers, so we’ve had great pleasure creating the bespoke specification for the Amarok edition.
“It not only looks great, but offers fantastic value too.”
Prices, excluding VAT, will start from £22,495 for the manual and £24,225 for the automatic.
