The full list of prices and specifications has just been released for the improved and extended Saab 9-5 range.

The Saab 9-5 range has been enhanced for the Model Year 2012 with the addition of a whole series of enhancements - including further CO2 emission reductions - and extended with the recently announced SportWagon.

The eagerly anticipated SportWagon adds an extra level of practicality to the acclaimed 9-5 Saloon with five-door functionality. With Saab's long established history of producing sporty yet eminently practical vehicles the new SportWagon is likely to be a big player in the premium wagon sector, especially considering the fact that it will cost just £1,200 over the price of the equivalent saloon.

Having been designed alongside its Saloon counterpart the SportWagon shares the same distinctive front end, but has the addition of a dramatic 'wraparound' rear window graphic, underneath a sweeping roof line that has been extended with a deep rear spoiler. With a 60/40 split for the folding rear seats there is plenty of flexibility in terms of storage. With all of the seats lowered the boot storage areas is over 6 feet long, and has a capacity of 1,600 litres. Even with the seats up the SportWagon boasts storage space of 527 litres. This practicality is further enhanced by aluminium roof rails, an adaptable U-rail cargo management system, and a retractable cargo cover. There is even an option available to upgrade the tailgate with a remotely controlled electric power operation system.

For 2012 the 9-5 Saloon and the SportWagon will benefit from improved efficiency on both the diesel and petrol engines, all of which offer reduced CO2 emissions as well as lower fuel consumption.  An average 4.7% reduction in CO2 emissions across the range is attained through the addition of Start-Stop functionality, as well as some fine-tuning of the engines.

Chassis engineers at Saab have also been working on making the latest 9-5 range cars even more sporty and fun to drive, with improved ride refinement on rough surfaces.

The spacious interiors are also given some new styling features, with the inclusion of metallic-look trim finishes for both the Vector SE and Aero variants. Previously paid option features such as satellite navigation and DAB radio have been made standard on the all of the new models.

The first cars from the new 9-5 range are due to go out to customers in Autumn 2011, but orders are already being taken. Prices start from £26,995 and go up to £39,195.

Commenting on the new range the Managing Director of Saab Great Britain, Charles Toosey, said:

"The latest 9-5 range offers customer benefits across the board, with lower emissions, improved fuel consumption, enhanced cabin features and even better driving dynamics. The new 9-5 SportWagon is also a stunning addition to the range which substantially broadens the appeal of our product offer. It builds on Saab's strong brand tradition for versatility, and will provide a compelling choice for customers who value distinctive design, premium quality and great flexibility."
