The first pictures of the restyled 2012 Renault Megane have been released today.
The next version of the Renault Megane will have a range of design changes to give the car a refreshed, modern look, along with a range of more efficient engines. The new car will still be recognisable as a Megane, but will feature an array of minor design changes aimed at giving the car a more modern appearance.
At the front end of the 2012 Megane a new set of LED daytime running lights are the highlight of the modernised look. The bumper features a gloss black finish with chrome highlights, and there is also a new set of wheels. Inside the car a new set of interior trims have been added, including two-tone leather with a choice of two different finishes.
In addition to the new style, the 2012 model will be the first Renault car to be sold with a range of three new stop-start engines to offer enhanced fuel economy. These engines are the product of a downsizing initiative from Renault, seeking to make smaller more efficient engines without sacrificing performance.
The Renault TCe 115 petrol engine features direct fuel injection and turbocharging. It is a 1198cc engine which replaces the firm's old 1.6-litre unit. It delivers 115bhp - an increase of 10bhp from the 1.6 it replaces with 25% less fuel consumption. With this engine the Megan has a combined cycle fuel consumption of 53.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 119g/km.
The other two engines are both diesel units, the 1.5 dCi 110 which delivers fuel economy of 80.7mpg with CO2 emissions of just 90g/km, and the cDi 130 which is a 1.6-litre engine delivering 130bhp with fuel consumption of 70.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 104g/km.
