The new Qoros GQ3 has been revealed ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Don't worry if you've never heard of Qoros, you're not alone. So before we get down to talking about the new GQ3, we'll give you a little potted history of the company.

Qoros -- which, by the way, is pronounced 'chorus' -- is a Chinese car manufacturer which was founded in 2007 by Chery Automobile: the largest car manufacturer in China, and the Israel Corporation: the largest holding company in, erm, Israel.

So, in a nutshell, the new Qoros GQ3 is a Chinese car financed partly by Israeli money.

As we're constantly being told, the Chinese are on the brink of global domination and in a few years' time we'll all be buying our motors from the People's Republic. It seems like a good idea, therefore, to see what the GQ3 is actually like.

It's hard to get excited about the way the GQ3 looks. In the press release which accompanies the car's announcement, Qoros talks at some length about the car's "purposeful stature" and "muscular arches". But from where we're standing the GQ3 looks, well, bland. Not ugly by any stretch of the imagination, but no stunner.

On the inside, the GQ3 gets an eight-inch touchscreen which operates the car's sat-nav and stereo. It also comes with a system which alerts the emergency services in the event of an accident and features integrated social networking connectivity which "enables drivers to share their driving experiences, points-of-interest, favourite trips and photos via social media."

Whether or not the GQ3 makes an impact on the UK market remains to be seen; however, if the price is right, the GQ3 could steal sales from some of the established Euro budget brands such as Skoda and Dacia.

The GQ3 goes on display at the Geneva Motor Show on 17 March and the first cars are scheduled to arrive in Europe by the end of the year.
