Porsche has added a second diesel model to its Cayenne line-up.
The new Cayenne S Diesel is fitted with a 4.2-litre V8 engine and sits in the range above the current 3.0-litre V6 diesel.
Whereas the V6 diesel produces 242bhp, the new V8 churns out 378bhp. This is enough to propel the Cayenne to 62mph in 5.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 157mph.
On top of this, the S Diesel develops 627lb-ft of torque -- more than the top-of-the-range Cayenne Turbo.
Despite the power and torque figures, however, the Cayenne S Diesel should return 34mpg, and emits just 218g/km of CO2 thanks to the its stop-start system.
To distinguish it from the lesser V6 diesel, the V8 gets bigger brakes with silver callipers -- a hallmark of all V8-powered Cayennes.
The Cayenne S Diesel will arrive on Porsche forecourts next January, with prices starting from £58,243.
