The new Volkswagen Golf Estate has made its world premiere.

Pre-sale orders start in Germany this week, followed by a gradual roll out in other European markets.
The new Golf Estate will have an all-wheel drive Golf Alltrack version, while will also become available at the same time.

Sharing a front end design with the new Golf hatchback, the roofline flattens out towards the rear while there is also coupé-type, angled rear window. An increase in length of 66mm allows for greater interior space for both passengers and luggage, capacity for which increases to 1,642 litres with the rear seats lowered.

Hybrid power is available in the form of the eTSI engine with 48-volt technology and 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. The system uses 48-volt belt-driven starter-alternator, 48-volt lithium-ion battery, and the TSI engine to form a new mild hybrid drive system that lowers fuel consumption by switching off the turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine whenever possible.

The new Golf Estate comes in Life, Style, and R-Line equipment lines. Entry-level equipment includes Lane Assist lane departure warning system, Front Assist with City Emergency Braking System and Pedestrian Monitoring, new oncoming vehicle braking when turning function, XDS electronic differential lock, Car2X traffic hazard alert, Keyless Start, and automatic lighting control. All models have Digital Cockpit Pro, Composition online infotainment system with 8.25-inch touchscreen, We Connect and We Connect Plus online services and functions, a multifunction steering wheel, Air Care Climatronic automatic air conditioner, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The new Golf Alltrack boasts permanent all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance, and rugged all- terrain look including bumpers and a custom interior.
