Volkswagen has revealed a series of images that show the near-production ready ID.Buzz electric car. The ID.Buzz will reach UK showrooms in late-2022 and be capable of covering over 300 miles on a single charge. Prices are expected to start in the region of £50,000.

The 2022 ID.Buzz will be available as a family MPV, panel van or camper. The MPV will be the biggest selling model in the UK and feature seven or eight seats, plus a powerful rear-mounted electric motor that will produce around 200PS.

The ID.Buzz electric car is based on the design of the Volkswagen Type 2 camper van, with its upright, boxy body and short overhangs giving a clear nod to the 1950s’ classic. The interior of the ID.Buzz will feature Volkswagen’s latest touchscreen tech, which will allow passengers to choose their favourite music or adjust the temperature with voice control.

Volkswagen’s design team has developed the ID.Buzz to provide ultimate passenger comfort and space. The battery pack is stored beneath the vehicle floor to maximise legroom and the huge wide and overhead windows will fill the interior with natural light during the day. At night, the passengers are able to relax with customisable LED mood lighting and three-zone climate control that will ensure everyone is comfortable.

All versions of the ID.Buzz get side sliding doors that will most likely whizz open at the press of a button. Boot space will also be generous, which means the ID.Buzz will accommodate three or four large bags.

The ID.Cargo panel van will also be launched in 2022, while a camper van is rumoured to be in development for 2023.
