Volkswagen has teased the new 2022 Amarok pick-up in a series of artwork images. The new truck is expected to be priced from £30,000 when it goes on sale in the summer.
The new Volkswagen Amarok has been developed alongside the next-generation Ford Ranger and will most likely be offered with the choice of a 3.0-litre V6 or 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engines.
Standard equipment levels will be high across the board with LED headlights, touchscreen navigation and climate control all available. The new Amarok will also get Volkswagen’s latest digital dashboard, which will see the traditional instrument dials replaced with a high definition screen. This will allow the driver to customise the instrument display with maps, route directions and other key journey data.
Unlike the Ranger, the Amarok will be sold in the UK in double-cab guise only, which means it'll carry four passengers in comfort. Volkswagen's famous 4Motion four-wheel drive system will be standard and you'll also get a range of off-road tech that will allow the Amarok to navigate snow, mud or sand.
The styling of the 2022 Amarok will be bigger and bolder than the outgoing model, with a huge front end that features a prominent grille and skidplate. The rear of the vehicle features a drop-down tailgate and a flat load area that will have 12V charging ports for power tools and a plastic load liner to protect the bodywork.
Buyers will get a range of customisation options, including lockable load space covers and leather seat trims. A high-end Sportline model will also be offered in late-2022 with a sports body kit and a V6 diesel engine that could offer 250+PS performance.
The Amarok will go on sale in July and be sold alongside Volkswagen's van range, which includes the Caddy, Transporter and Crafter.
