Aston Martin have announced plans to introduce the most potent and exclusive Vantage yet, the track-inspired Vantage GT3 Special Edition which will be limited to a production run of only 100 examples.

The 592bhp, 6.0-litre V12 powered beast will make its public bow at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. Tipping the scales at 100kg less than a standard V12 Vantage S, the new GT3 Special Edition has been re-engineered and restyled for optimum driving performance, and is lower and wider than the rest of the Vantage range with a broader track for improved cornering.

The Vantage GT3 Special Edition makes extensive use of carbon fibre construction, including the distinctive rear wing and front splitter which comes as part of its track-inspired aerodynamics package and not only gives the model greater presence on the road but also boosts high speed downforce and stability. Carbon fibre also features in the flared front wings, bonnet, door casings, and on the optional extra roof. The model also boasts a race-derived lithium ion battery and optional weight-saving polycarbonate rear window and quarter windows. The comprehensive re-engineering package has also seen lightweight magnesium inlet manifolds and torque tube, as well as a titanium exhaust system, all of which helps keep the weight of the car down to just 1565kg.

Inside the cabin of the Vantage GT3 Special Edition is a carbon fire centre console with touch-sensitive controls, carbon fibre sports seats, and Alcantara trim.

Dr Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin, said: “Motorsport is in our blood at Aston Martin. The Vantage is the car we campaign in top level sports car racing around the world and so it seems only fitting that we offer an exclusive, limited edition Vantage that expertly fuses our motorsport know-how with our road car prowess. The Vantage GT3 special edition is an uncompromising example of our design and engineering expertise and I’m sure the 100 owners who secure one of these cars will savour every second behind the wheel; whether on the road or on the track.”
