The new and improved 9-3 model range will go on sale in the UK next month, and Saab GB has now announced the full prices and specifications for it.
The new Saab 9-3 range is now even more competitive and desirable than before, with a wide range of enhancements such as two new petrol turbo engines, improved standard specifications, stronger performance, and reduced emissions.
A refreshed look is also being offered, with the MY12 9-3 getting new front bumpers and grille, along with ‘ice block’ headlamps. The badging on the chrome trim at the back is being replaced by the Saab wordmark, and every Saloon variant will come with a boot-mounted aerodynamic spoiler.
For the new interiors the cabin now features titanium metallic-effect trim on the glovebox, doors, around the instrument panel, and on the gearshift moulding. SE models are to be fitted with Leather Appointed comfort seats, and Aero models will have leather Sport seats with contrast stitching, along with a new graphite-fibre on the glovebox, doors, gearshift moulding and instrument panel.
Standard features which will now be fitted across the whole range include alloy wheels, leather trimmed interior, parking assist, heated front seats, electric folding mirrors, rain sensor wipers and Bluetooth connectivity. Driver assist and safety technology which now comes as standard includes an Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Saab Active Head Restraints and a full suite of six airbags.
Two new 2.0-litre petrol turbo engines offer a power of 163bhp or 220bhp, and feature twin-scroll turbocharging, direct injection, and variable valve timing. They both come with a choice of six speed manual or automatic transmission.
Efficiency and cleanliness have been improved for the new models without sacrificing performance, with the manual 220bhp 9-3 Aero Saloon and SportWagon sharing the title of the most powerful sub 160g/km engine currently on sale in the UK
Explaining the firm’s expectations for the new range, the Managing Director of Saab GB Charles Toosey said:
"We are very confident that the 9-3 range will be a great success in the UK and will appeal to motorists wanting a high performance, low emissions vehicle, with high levels of standard equipment and competitive pricing."
