MG has given its electric SUV a range of important updates for 2022. The new ZS EV is on sale now and prices start at £28,495, which includes the Government's £2500 plug-in car grant.

The ZS EV was launched in 2019, but three years on MG has decided to give its family SUV a range of important updates with the headline change being the introduction of the 72kWh Long Range battery.

The new ZS EV will now cover 273 miles on a single charge, which is better than the Peugeot e-2008 (206 miles) but still short on the Kia e-Niro (282 miles) and Hyundai Kona Electric (300 miles).

As with all models in the MG line-up, the ZS EV is backed by a comprehensive seven-year warranty. Standard equipment across the range is also high.

The entry level ZS EV starts at £28,495 on the road and is equipped with automatic air conditioning, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, a parking camera, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with sat nav. The Trophy model, priced at £30,995 adds a panoramic ‘Sky Roof’ and leather-style seats, along with roof rails, electric heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers and wireless phone charging.

The range-topping Trophy Connect, adds live services (weather, traffic and Amazon Prime) and is priced at £31,495.

The ZS EV features a new iSMART system that allows the driver to connect the car to their smartphone. Once paired, the driver can access a range of vehicle functions via the MG app, such as remotely lock and unlock the car, set the air conditioning and heating, activate the windscreen demister and program the EV charging schedule (when the car is plugged into a charger).

Recharging the MG ZS EV is simple, with the socket located at the front of the car behind a flap. A full charge from a home wallbox takes 10 hours. The driver can also rapidly charge the battery from 10 - 80% in around 40 minutes when the car is connected to a public 100kWh charger.

In styling terms, the New MG ZS EV gets a new electric-only front end, with a stamped-effect grille to improve aerodynamics and a new side-opening charging port. The bold new face is set off by LED headlights and distinctive daytime running lights. It also gets a redesigned rear bumper and new wheels.
