Honda has released the first official photos of the latest incarnation of its Jazz supermini.
The new Jazz (which, like previous models, will be called the 'Fit' in some markets) will go on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September and will go on sale in Japan later this year. The first models will arrive in UK showrooms in 2014.
Although the overall length, width and height are similar to the outgoing model, the Jazz is an all-new car based on an all-new platform. There's a new range of engines, a new interior and a new body inspired by the Honda Insight.
The wheelbase has also been increased by two inches. As a result, Honda claims that the new car offers impressive head- and leg-room in both the front and the rear seats.
The flagship model of the range will be the new Jazz hybrid which utilises a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor. And while the old car used a Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery and a CVT gearbox, the new model gets an improved Lithium-ion battery and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Impressively, Honda claims that the new car will return 102.8mpg, a vast improvement over the current car's figure of 62.8mpg.
Pricing information for the new Jazz has yet to be revealed.
