Aston Martin has announced production of a new model named the Virage which will go on sale in the UK later this year.
Further details of the Virage will become available when the car is launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March. What we can tell you, however, is that the Virage has been designed to fit in the middle of the Aston Martin range, above the DB9 but below the more focussed and aggressive DBS.
The new car will have the same 6.0-litre V12 fitted to all big Astons but it will be tuned to produce 490bhp and 420lb-ft of torque. A Touchtronic automatic transmission feeds the power from the engine to the rear wheels and the Virage also boasts 50:50 weight distribution for greater driving feel.
Aston claims that the Virage offers “an engaging yet more refined driving experience” and “performance that is always accessible for effortless driving”. Comfort is evidently a high priority for the Virage and further evidence of this comes in the form of heated seats and cruise control. The Virage will be no slouch though, reaching 62mph in under five seconds.
The Virage will be available as either a coupe or a roadster with two seats or 2+2 seating.
