Britain's most popular car, the Ford Fiesta, has been given a mid-life facelift.
The new car features revised exterior styling and a host of new technology, and is available for the first time with Ford's excellent 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine.
The exterior changes are subtle; the new Fiesta gets a redesigned trapezoidal grille and new headlights with LED daytime running lights. The new car also gets a 'power-dome' bonnet design, in contrast to the flatter bonnet fitted to the outgoing model.
The new Fiesta also gets Ford's 'MyKey' system, which is especially useful for parents looking for a first car for their children. The MyKey system allows the owner to pre-programme a maximum speed and stereo volume, and the car will be restricted to these settings if it is lent to a friend. MyKey also mutes the stereo until all seatbelts are fastened.
Ford's SYNC in-car connectivity system is also featured, which includes voice-activated commands for both the stereo and the hands-free phone system. You can also use smartphone apps through the Fiesta's stereo. SYNC can also be configured to automatically call the emergency services in the event of an accident.
More details will be revealed at the Fiesta's world debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month.
The new Fiesta goes on sale next year, with prices starting from around £10,000.
