Ford has released details of its latest 4x4, the all-new Kuga, which will be on sale in the UK at the end of the year.
One of the most innovative features of the new Ford Kuga is its hands-free automatic tailgate. As its name indicates, the gate can be opened and closed simply by waving a foot under the rear bumper.
Ford of Europe Chairman and CEO Stephen Odell, said:
"Innovative technologies like the hands-free automatic tailgate clearly set new Kuga apart from its competitors. But more importantly they provide customers with everyday advantages. All-new Kuga is more spacious, dynamic and capable than the current model, which continues to be popular with our European customers."
Another interesting feature the car will include is the Ford voice-activated in-car connectivity system SYNC. This device is able to contact Emergency Assistance in the event of an accident.
Different regions, different features
Ford has claimed that the design of this vehicle took into consideration the differing demands of customers from around the world.
"Ford designers employed trend spotting on a global scale to ensure the all-new Kuga meets the needs of the customers - wherever they are in the world," claimed the manufacturer.
Chris Bird, Design Director at Ford of Europe, said that size-perception is different in each region. As he explained, more customers in Europe and Asia now choose compact 4x4s as an alternative to conventional niche products like coupes.
