Improved engine performance, lower emissions and a cheaper price are set to characterise the new 2012 range of the Toyota Aygo vehicles.
The commitment to lower emissions means the Aygo is exempt from annual road tax and the London congestion charge.
Toyota is also keen to stress that the new range will boast a more efficient performance, with drivers gaining more miles per gallon.
The special edition vehicles will only be available in the UK for now, and will be called the Aygo Fire and Aygo Ice.
The Ice version bases its theme on comfort and on-board connectivity, while the Aygo Fire has a sportier theme at its heart.
The Aygo’s new front-end adds real emphasis to the car’s lower section, with integrated fog lights in each corner.
A large trapezoidal air intake will also be fitted as standard to improve the performance of engine cooling, and an upper front grille has been adapted into the design to create a more slender model.
These alterations have improved the car’s aerodynamic efficiency as much as it has improved the general style.
The Aygo Fire will be equipped with 14-inch alloys, front fog lights, LED daytime running lights, rear privacy glass, leather steering wheel, gear knob trim and a rev counter.
The Aygo Ice specifications are designed to provide entertainment and connectivity. Air conditioning, Alcantara and leather trim, a powerful four-speaker sound system, Bluetooth and a USB port to connect digital music players are the key aspects of this.
All Toyota Aygo models are powered by a 1.0 litre WT-i petrol engine that returns 65.7mpg and initial deliveries will begin from March 2012.
To protect and prepare the Aygo Fire and Aygo Ice interior and exterior from everyday scrapes and scratches while driving, the Xtraprotected Pack is available.
