Land Rover have released a new 2.2-litre diesel engine for their Defender range which meets the current Euro 5 emissions regulations.
The new engine boasts the same power and torque figures as the previous 2.4-litre diesel, however the emissions ratings have been reduced with the Defender 90 now producing just 266g/km of CO2 and the Defender 110 producing 295g/km. The new car also has a higher top speed, managing 90mph as opposed to its predecessor's 82mph.
Two new option packs are now available for the Defender. The Comfort Pack includes air-con, CD player with MP3 input, electric windows and remote central locking all for £1650. The Off-road pack costs £1500 and includes ABS, heavy duty rims and MTR tyres along with a tow ball and under-ride protection bar.
The Defender is also now available with a new heating and ventilation system which Land Rover claim is designed to cope with the most extreme climates. Another new feature for the Defender is a new plain black Pickup hood, which will be available as an option.
The 2012 Defender will be available to buy from November with prices starting from £20,995 OTR.
