Citroen’s unique Trafficmaster Smartnav and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking package has received an upgrade for 2012, incorporating features such as a new, larger colour screen.

The system is fitted as standard to all Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay panel vans, and now boasts improvements to its operational and safety features.

Another key improvement to the Telematics package is the ability to make calls for emergency assistance via the SOS icon on the colour touchscreen. The E-Call (emergency call) is handled directly by Trafficmaster while all B-Calls go directly to The AA, ensuring a timely response.

European legislation will dictate that all vehicles have similar emergency call facilities by 2015.

Citroen is the first manufacturer in the UK LCV market to provide this service – a full three years before it becomes a legal requirement.

The larger colour screen, which form part of the telematics system, benefits from the following features:

  • Full colour UK and European mapping (European routing requires additional subscription).
  • A choice of 2D or 3D graphics.- A choice of mapping colours.
  • Visuals of the route overlaid on the map, as well as next direction and distance displays.
  • Auto-zoom function, plus additional pan and zoom facility.

If used in partnership with Trafficmaster’s optional fleet management tool, Fleet Director, the colour screen also provides a dual messaging facility, ensuring a clear flow of communication between the fleet operator and its vehicles.

Trafficmaster’s Fleet Director real-time fleet management system is currently available for just £19.95 + VAT per month, per vehicle.

“Citroen LCVs are designed to deliver both optimum environmental performance and low whole-life operating costs,” said Scott Michael, Citroen’s Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager.

“In its latest form, Citroen’s unique Trafficmaster and Trackstar telematics package materially assists in this process by helping to improve productivity, reduce driver stress levels and raise safety standards.”

The Trafficmaster Smartnav telematics system fitted to Citroen LCVs offers car owners subscriptions including 10 free calls to Trafficmaster’s Personal Assistance service, 3 years of stolen vehicle tracking and 3 years of automatically downloaded traffic information designed to help drivers avoid areas of congestion.
