Citroen is to release the C4 Aircross, a new compact 4x4 which will go on sale in the UK in the second half of 2012.
According to Citroen, the C4 Aircross will boast class-beating CO2 figures despite its large size and off-road credentials. Indeed, the Aircross will be fitted with a clever 4WD system that allows the driver to choose between 2WD for good fuel consumption, 4WD which distributes the torque between the axles depending on conditions, and 'Lock', which provides the best traction for off-road driving.
The new car will have styling inspired by the Hypnos concept car and will boast 18-inch alloy wheels as well as a rear reversing camera.
Although engine specs have been released for the European market, Citroen has yet to confirm the availability of engines in the UK. However, expect there to be a 1.6 and 2.0-litre petrol and a 1.6 and 1.8-litre diesel available.
There is still no word from Citroen on the price list, but expect prices for the C4 Aircross to start from about £16k.
