Chevrolet have now made their Volt electric vehicle available to order in the UK.
The Volt will initially be available through just two dealerships - Cambridge Chevrolet in Cambridge, and Phoenix Chevrolet in Wimbledon - and the manufacturer have used the announcement to confirm the pricing for the new model. The Chevrolet Volt will have a price tag of £34,995, but this will be reduced to £29,995 thanks to the car's eligibility for the Government's Low Carbon Vehicle grant.
The Chevrolet Volt will be available with just one trim level, which will include heated leather seats, bluetooth, keyless ignition, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED-based interior lighting, solar absorbing glass, DAB digital radio, energy-efficient stereo system, programmable door-locking, air-conditioning, 7-inch touch screen LCD display, front and rear park assist with rear camera, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Optional extras include, for £1,745, an audio system featuring sat nav, DVD-ROM and MP3 playback facility, BOSE speakers with sub-woofer, voice recognition and a hard drive with 30Gb of music storage. 17-inch polished alloy wheels are available at £490, and metallic paint will cost £495.
The Chevrolet Volt has an onboard petrol generator, which it uses to sustain the battery on extended journeys, allowing the wheels to be powered by its electric motor until it can be recharged. The model has picked up a number of awards, including Green Car of the Year, and North American Car of the Year.
