Caterham has revealed its most powerful ever road-going Seven ahead of the car's debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
The Caterham Seven 620R replaces the R500 at the pinnacle of Caterham's model line-up and will go on sale later this year with a price tag of £49,995 -- £7,500 more than the R500.
Powered by a 310bhp supercharged version of the 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine used in the R500, the 620R is capable of completing the 0-62mph sprint in less than 2.8 seconds and will hit 155mph at full chat.
The 620R features a new gunmetal chassis, a new nose cone and a race-developed cooling system. The car also sits on 13-inch lightweight alloy wheels clad in Avon ZZR tyres, and high-performance dampers are also included as standard.
Inside, Caterham claims that the 620R benefits from "noticeable improvements", with performance-focussed instrumentation and ergonomic switchgear. The car also gets carbon-fibre interior panels, a carbon-fibre dash, carbon-fibre race seats and a Q/R steering wheel.
Caterham CEO Graham Macdonald said: "The Seven 620 R is an extreme piece of kit. We know there is demand for cars that re-write the rules of performance and, if you're brave enough to take it on, the 620 R will be an enormously rewarding, fun car to pilot."
