In celebration of the London 2012 Olympics, which BMW is sponsoring, the company has introduced two new Performance Edition models based on the 1 Series and 3 Series.
A new 1 Series Performance Edition will build on the sporting style of the popular 1 Series Sports Hatch, and will include M aerodynamic bodystyling, dark chrome 18 inch M light alloy wheels, dark chrome exhaust tailpipe, dark line rear lights, High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim and London 2012 badges. On the inside, the 1 Series car will come with an M Sport multi-function leather steering wheel and gearshift lever, and sport seats with Royal Blue stitching. It will also be enhanced by the inclusion of M Sport Suspension
The 1 Series Performance Edition will be available for the 116i, 116d and 118d 3 and 5 door models and will cost just £1,500 on top of the equivalent ES models. The price of an 116i Performance Edition three door car will therefore start at £19,530 OTR.
Also getting a London 2012 makeover is the BMW 3 Series Saloon. This will be made available on the 118i and 118d models. It will also include M aerodynamic bodystyling, M Sport multi-function steering wheel, sport seats, 18 inch light alloy wheels, chrome exhaust tailpipe and London 2012 badges.
The 3 Series Performance Edition will be priced at £500 over the equivalent 3 Series ES Saloon, with prices starting at £23,195 for a BMW 318i Performance Edition Saloon.
Both cars will be made available in four different colours: Apline White, Titanium Silver, Bluewater, and Black Sapphire, and are on sale in the UK from now.
