Aston Martin has confirmed that its new V12 Vantage S will be the firm's fastest accelerating car to date, with the exception of the limited edition One-77 hypercar.
The V12 Vantage S will complete the 0-62mph sprint in just 3.9 seconds and will cost from £138,000 when it goes on sale in the UK later this year.
The secret to the Vantage's impressive 0-62mph time is, of course, its engine. It's the latest, fifth-generation evolution of Aston's 6.0-litre V12, producing 565bhp and 457lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels through the seven-speed flappy-paddle gearbox taken from the V8 Vantage which features a longer final drive ratio.
And thanks to its longer top gear, the V12 Vantage S will hit 205mph flat out, making it the fastest Aston Martin ever made.
Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez said: "The new V12 Vantage S brings our winning GT3 race formula to the road. It's a car for those customers who want superior sporting performance in a 'gentleman's suit'. It's the most pure, yet understated, driving machine we can imagine today."
