British car manufacturer Aston Martin is set to collaborate on a new car with Italian design house Zagato, the company has confirmed.
As of yet, this dark, enigmatic image is the only one released by the company. From the very little we can see it appears to be based on the current Vantage, although the overly-large rear wheel arches suggest that the track may be wider and the wheels bigger.
Previous collaborations between the two companies have produced the Vantage Zagato and the DB7 Zagato. Dr Ulrich Bez, the Aston Martin boss, had this to say: "The DNA of both Aston Martin and Zagato has combined successfully to make some of the world's most desirable collector cars in the past and in this special anniversary year of the DB4GT Zagato it is appropriate to explore a modern collaboration".
The model is set to be unveiled at the Villa D'Este Concours event on May 21 on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. It will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first DB4GT, produced in 1961. After racing the car at the Nurburgring 24hrs, the company will gauge customer reaction to the model at the Villa D'Este event.
Limited production of the vehicle could begin in early 2012.
