The all-new Mazda MX-5 has been made available for pre-order in the UK to coincide with the first examples of the model rolling off the Japanese carmaker’s Hiroshima production lines.
The fourth generation of Mazda’s popular two-seater will initially be introduced in the firm’s domestic Japanese market, with UK pricing and specification to be confirmed ahead of a full sales launch over here later on in the summer.
When the latest MX-5 does hit these shores it will come with a choice of two ultra-efficient lightweight SKYACTIV Technology petrol engines producing 129bhp and 158bhp respectively, helping to ensure that the new model will be the lightest MX-5 since the 1989 original. The new MX-5 will also be available with the MZD Connect infotainment system and a range of i-ACTIVSENSE safety systems.
Since the original MX-5 was launched over a quarter of a century ago it has gone on to enjoy huge popularity. January this year saw production pass 950,000 units, with the MX-5 entering the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling two-seater sports car of all time.
