To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Shelby Cobra's debut in the FIA racing world, Shelby America has unveiled a new limited edition model.
Just 50 examples of the Cobra CSX7000 will be produced, each of which will be painted in 'Viking Blue' with FIA stripes and a black FIA interior.
Designed to replicate the 1964 Shelby 289 FIA Cobra, the car features widened front and rear bumpers, new dampers, 15-inch racing wheel and independent suspension. The car has also been updated for the 21st century with large steel disc brakes and a stronger frame.
Shelby claims that the new Cobra is the lightest car the company has ever made, with buyers being able to choose between carbon-fibre and aluminium body shells.
The Cobra CSX7000 Cobra costs from $94,995 (£57,770) with the fibreglass body and $159,995 (£97,300) with the aluminium body. This is a lot, especially as the car does not come with an engine -- buyers are expected to source their own engine, which, in the original car, was a small-block Ford V8.
