Volvo has teased the next-generation Volvo XC90 ahead of the car's planned launch next year.
The car was revealed during an official Volvo presentation by the company's new head of design Thomas Ingenlath, previewing the front-end design which adopted across the Volvo range.
Volvo has already previewed the styling direction it intends to take with the Volvo Concept Coupe which was revealed earlier this week and, like the concept, the XC90 will be based on Volvo's new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform which will form the basis of much of the Volvo range.
As you can see, the XC90 gets the same T-shaped daytime-running lights we saw on the Concept Coupe and is fitted with the same enormous Volvo badge and under-bumper accents.
The next-gen XC90 will be powered by a range of new 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines with a choice of both six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic gearboxes.
Although Volvo has not announced any immediate plans to put the new XC90 into production, a replacement for the ageing current model is arguably well overdue. The XC90 has been in production, largely unchanged, since 2002.
The new Volvo XC90 is expected to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
