The Volvo S60 is a medium executive four-door saloon which was designed to replace the Volvo S70. The second generation S60 is perhaps one of the most stylish vehicles Volvo has ever produced leaving their old, boxy image very much in the past. Its recent concern with image hasn’t resulted in complacency in other areas; it’s still a good drive and comes with a more than adequate, standard safety kit as well as ample optional kit.

Volvo S60 Overview
It is an appealing alternative to the German cars, such as the BMW 3 series, the Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class which currently dominate the executive market.
Background
The Volvo S60 was first produced in 2000 and is another example of Volvo attempting to break free from the reputation of producing square, boxy vehicles.
The first generation was in production from 2000-2009, during this time the S60 was refreshed once in 2005 with an exterior update including new headlamps, as well as some small updates to the interior. An S60 R version was also produced which had 6-speed and 5-speed engines as well as many other features separate from the original S60.
In 2010 the second generation S60 began production. The engine selection consists of four petrol engines and three diesels one of which has Stop Start technology. The model also comes with Volvo’s City Safety system as standard; this includes a system which stops the car in the event of an impending collusion, and a new safety system known as “Pedestrian Detection”.
Summary
The Volvo S60 is a very attractive saloon with a lot to offer buyers in the way of functionality, it is also a very practical alternative to rival brands and comes at a cheaper price.
