Toyota GT86 Pre Model Manual - July 2012
The GT86 is that rarest of things -- a proper sports car. Forget your Sciroccos and your Audi TTs, for pure unadulterated thrills, this car eats them for breakfast.

Toyota GT86 Overview

The model boasts a sleek and stylish exterior, typical of modern day sports cars, and has the performance to match down its low weight, front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive.

The GT86 can hit a top speed of 140mph and takes a respectable 7.7 seconds to reach 62mph from a standstill. Handling of the car is excellent down to its weight being distributed evenly from front to back.

With smooth gearshifts and sharp responsive steering, the GT86 delivers a truly exhilarating driving experience. The model glides through corners with ease and the ride is a particularly smooth one.

Moreover, refinement is very impressive with almost no wind or road noise infiltrating the cabin. Engine noise is barely audible either.

The interior of the Toyota GT86 is decent, with plenty of cabin space for passengers in the front; however the rear seats are essentially only usable for small children.

The car comes with a good level of standard equipment, but fuel economy leaves a little to be desired performing at an average of just 36.2mpg.

Background

The Toyota GT86 was first presented as a concept car in 2009 at the Tokyo Motor Show – the Toyota FT-86. It was modified when shown at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon and then again as a third concept car at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

After much development from the engineers of both Toyota and Subaru, the model was finally unveiled as a production car at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.

The model went on sale in March 2012 and is equipped with a 2.0 litre engine, available with either a manual or automatic 6-speed transmission.

Summary

The Toyota GT86 is a stylish sports car which can be purchased for a fairly reasonable price. It delivers a superb driving experience but won't be too easy on your pocket in terms of running costs. It also lacks rear space.
