Smart Fortwo Overview
The city slicker is clearly aimed at the youthful, cost conscious, green voter and they seem likely to be beating a path to its doors.
Background
The Smart Fortwo was originally introduced in 1998 with the first generation model running for 9 years until 2007. It received a facelift in 2002 and was available in a number of different forms including the base model ‘Pure’, the sportier ‘Pulse’ coupe and the luxury Passion Cabriolet.
The second generation model was introduced in 2006 and features very similar styling to the first generation model despite its increase in length. It also has a better crash performance than the previous models.
There is also a Hybrid model, a Smart electric drive model and a Brabus (sporty) model available in certain markets.
A third generation model is expected to see the production lines in 2012.
Summary
The benefits of the smart fortwo are easily guessed by just looking at the car - it can be parked in spaces other drivers wouldn’t even consider, running costs are incredibly low and it’s fun to own and drive.
