Renault Laguna Overview
The most recent Renault Laguna came as a hatchback an estate or a coupe and offered the choice of a range of engines from a 1.6 litre to a 3.0 litre, including both diesel and petrol options. The fuel economy for the Laguna ranges from 28.0 mpg to 60 mpg.
The Renault Laguna’s sloping rear glass and rounded tail make it an elegant alternative to conventional estate cars. The traditional mid-size car sector might have seen better days, but Renault's effort to give the Laguna a lift has created a car worthy of praise.
Background
The Renault Laguna was first produced in 1993 in hatchback form, two years later in 1995 the estate version was also introduced which is commonly known as the Laguna Sport Tourer. The first generation Laguna received a facelift in 1998 before it was replaced in 2000.
The second generation Laguna was built on the same chassis as the Nissan Primera and contained an updated engine and more equipment to choose from. This Laguna was also the first car in the European market which received 5 stars in the EuroNCAP crash test. The second generation received a facelift in 2005 before it was replaced by the third generation model in 2007.
The third generation model is the first to be offered in coupe form which was designed to compete with other cars such as the Volkswagen Passat CC and the Peugeot 407 Coupe. The third generation Laguna also received a facelift in 2010 to ensure it is never dated.
Summary
The car boasts enough space to accommodate shopping bags, sports equipment, strollers, or other larger items. The car offers much in the way of practicality and versatility and has managed to offer all of this and still maintain a very attractive exterior style. Overall the Laguna offers good value and is an all-round good package.
