Mercedes-Benz CLS Overview

Head and legroom in the Mercedes CLS is very limited in the rear seats, so it is not ideal for long trips especially for adult passengers. Although more spacious than the rear, there is still limited room for passengers in the front. The CLS has a boot that is large enough for average sized items, but will not accommodate large volumes of luggage.

Whilst not being ideal for families, the car is blessed with stunning aesthetics. The CLS has quality and class in abundance, but with these qualities comes a high price and running costs will be high.

The vehicle comes with a favourable level of standard equipment, including a high quality sound system and satellite navigation.

Background

The Mercedes CLS was produced in its first generation from 2004.

It was built with a wide range of engine choices, including a supercharged V8, and was available with a 5-speed or 7-speed automatic transmission.

All of the engines were limited to a top speed of 155mph. Acceleration, however, varied and the CLS 63 AMG could accelerate from 0 – 60mph in just 4.5 seconds.

The company focused on safety with the CLS and put all their latest technological innovations into the car to make it as safe as they could. As well as front and side airbags, the model featured a smart sensor system for the seatbelts by which they would tighten in the event of a collision. The interior was available in a range of colours, in leather and wood.

The second generation of the Mercedes CLS was introduced in 2010. The engine choices have been upgraded and the model is now available only with a 7-speed transmission, manual or automatic.

Summary

The Mercedes CLS is an executive car that delivers comfort, speed, quality and performance. The car looks exceptionally good and drives just as well.
