Dacia Sandero Car Reviews

The Dacia Sandero is currently the cheapest car on the UK market. It's a stylish, practical supermini with a good range of proven Renault engines; however, some buyers are likely to be put off by its budget image. Plus, reliability and depreciation are unknowns.

Dacia Sandero Overview

The Sandero comes with a choice of three engines: two petrols and a diesel. Entry-level cars come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine developing 74bhp and returning 47.9mpg, and a 1.5-litre diesel is also on offer, returning 74.3mpg. A 0.9-litre three-cylinder engine completes the range.

Standard equipment on the entry-level Access cars is lacking -- there are no electric windows, no central locking and no radio; however, for this price, this is to be expected.

Moving up the range, Ambiance models get remote central locking, a radio/CD player with Bluetooth and body-coloured bumpers. The top-of-the-range Laureate adds air-con, electric front and rear windows, cruise control, a trip computer, a height-adjustable driver's seat and a speed limiter.

The Sandero offers cheap, honest motoring and comes with a three-year, 60,000 mile warranty as standard.

Background

Originally launched in 2007, the Dacia Sandero was based on the Dacia Logan saloon; however, it was only when the car was updated in 2012 that Dacia began to offer the Sandero in the UK.

With the Dacia Duster SUV, the Sandero is the first car offered by the Renault sub-brand in the UK and only time will tell how successful the brand becomes in Britain.

Summary

Don't expect the Dacia Sandero to excite you; however, if it's cheap reliable motoring you're looking for, it's tough to beat the Sandero for all-round value.
