Volvo will unveil its new V40 at the Geneva Motor Show on 6th March.

The all-new V40 hatchback shares its features and characteristics from larger Volvos, and the company hopes to sell 90,000 annually with 85% of that total in the European market. Its wide range of engine options go from a diesel unit emitting just 94g/km of CO2, to a 254bhp T5 turbo petrol engine capable of a 6.7 second 0-62mph time.

Safety features include Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake and pedestrian airbag, a lane keeping aid, and a park assist pilot to aid parallel parking. Its low-speed collision avoidance system operates at speeds up to 31mph.

"The all-new V40 is the most intelligent and safe Volvo model so far. All its features are designed around the driver, helping him or her stay alert and well informed to avoid collisions and dangerous situations," said Håkan Abrahamsson, Volvo's V40 Vehicle Programme Manager.

Production of the new Volvo V40 will commence in May at the company's facility in Ghent, Belgium.
